Almost twenty-four hours after political parties flagged off their campaigns in line with INEC’s timetable for next year’s general elections, strong indications have emerged that the Nigerian womenfolk are not leaving anyone in doubt about their readiness to dictate the pace, according to findings by Daily Spokesman Newspaper.

At the forefront of this movement is a frontline women mobilization group known as Amazons 4 ABAT comprising hardcore community influencers, committed caregivers, accomplished professionals and grassroots movers and mobilizers whose determined appearance at yesterday’s unveiling of political campaign activities of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja literally left many observers amazed.

Not a few analysts, in a survey by this newspaper, have interpreted the development as the readiness of these Nigerian women to be taken seriously and be counted in the current leadership recruitment process in shaping the direction, tone and outcome of next year’s general election.

Checks by Daily Spokesman at press time revealed that highly-placed federal and state government functionaries, stalwarts and personalities in the APC have started to note the patriotic activities of this leading women group under its director general, Dr. Egondu Okorie who led her members and teeming supporters to participate massively in the just-held Abuja One million march for the actualization of the election of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (ABAT) as APC’s candidate in next year’s presidential election.

It was gathered that the group has warmed itself into the heart of the highly cerebral and progressive-minded APC youngest National Women Leader, Dr. Betta Edu whose on-going revolutionary drive in re-positioning women interests and fortunes in the nation’s ruling party has been described as a phenomenal catalyst for the emergence of credible women mobilization groups such as Amazons 4 ABAT in the party.

It was also learnt that the activities of the group has caught the attention of another prominent cerebral political activist in the person of the Minister of State for Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Hajia (Dr.) Ramatu Tijani Aliyu.

The group’s director-general after an FCT executive meeting in Abuja led members on a condolence and solidarity visit to the minister of state in her Gwarimpa home following the death of her mother recently.

The visit, according to the group’s director, organising, Dr. Ijeoma Kalu, was undertaken to express their heart-felt condolences to the minister and to assure her of the group’s solidarity.

On the visit were some members of the group who fondly address themselves as Amazon Generals such as Nene Usman, Mrs. Esther Emeka-Nwankpa, Barr. Toyin Black, Halimatu Sadiya Odapu, Hon. Mrs. Rhoda Ioryisa, Tabitha Christiana, Lady Mrs. Rosemary Ukiwe, Amb. Gift C. Moneke, Patience Ezeh, Mrs. Amaka Okwudili and Eunice Bosua.

Yet-unconfirmed information obtained from sources close to the group indicated that more persons have made moves to join the group to swell its rants in the build-up to the forth-coming campaigns of the ruling political party.
