A group known as Let Osinbajo Be (LOB) supporting the recent presidential declaration of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has taken a swipe at what it called the serial denigration of the nation’s No. 2 citizen allegedly by agents, groups and persons rooting for the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, warning that if the trend continued, it would be forced to retaliate in a manner that would permanently seal the Tinubu’s fate in the coming weeks.
Interim national coordinator of the group, Mr. Adeleke Ajuwon in a statement released after its emergency meeting in Abuja at the weekend and obtained by Daily Spokesman said that the group had, since Professor Yemi Osinbajo’s formal audio declaration last Monday, watched what he called ‘’a heavily sustained, serial and callous denigration and vicious profiling of the Vice President in the name politics’’ and had come to the conclusion that the trend was best interpreted as part of the fulfillment of Tinubu’s threat to fight dirty to achieve his lifelong presidential ambition.
The group observed with sadness that since the ugly name-calling started and had assumed a disturbing dimension without any word of caution or disclaimer by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu or his appointed agents, cronies and foot soldiers, it would be left with no other option than to retaliate in equal and even greater measure in the coming weeks and months.
According to the group, the ugly trend had shattered its members’ expectations of a noble and value-based campaign whereby groups and persons would market the vision, manifestoes and potentials of their respective candidates in an atmosphere devoid of mutual disrespect, chaos and brigandage.
“We have no doubt that the candidature, personality and marketability of the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, GCON, SAN had been soaring soon after he made his historic presidential declaration last Monday after his wide consultations . We have no doubt that his declaration has indeed unsettled the sense of entitlement of some hence the knee-jerk reactions across their political camps and covens.
“Ordinary we would not have bothered about the vicious name-calling but we think that with the way the trend is going and with recent reports that some spies and mercenaries were being recruited to invade the vice president’s country home in Ikenne to rake up dirt against him, we are compelled to come out and give this warning with a caution that further denigration of the vice president, his family and allies will be met with full retaliation’’, Adeleke warned.
“It is clear to all and sundry that the vice president has successfully built an enviable private and public service career worthy of emulation to the nation’s young generation unlike some of the characters currently parading and fouling the political space with heavy moral baggage that should ordinarily be a source of shame, but here they are poking their ill-gotten wealth in our faces, deceiving our helpless youths whose future they have mortgaged by the rapacious thievery and vaunting ambitions’’, the group said.
It will be recalled that another group, Progressive Lawyers for Prof. Yemi Osinbajo last Friday in a statement raised the alarm that a massive recruitment of mercenaries and spies backed by mouth-watering amount of money had been carried out to storm the country home of the vice president to engage his folks to rake up dirty lies for use in their plot to cause the nation’s No. 2 citizen sufficient public shame and ridicule capable of forcing him to drop out of the presidential race.
Adeleke further noted that a major source of worry and fear to the political opponents of the vice president is his decent and untainted public service record which they believe has further endeared him to many Nigerians home and abroad as well as the influential power centers in the international community who are increasingly becoming interested in the forth-coming presidential contest.
‘We hereby categorically state that the coming weeks and months will be crucial in the life of this nation. Any further attempt by these hoodlums to denigrate the vice president, we promise to give them triple their measure. We want to assure them that we are not short of dossiers on their pay masters. It shall be fire for fire. It shall be a balance of terror. Enough is enough’’, he said.
